Media Studies
Grade 11
EMS01-This course emphasizes knowledge and skills that will enable students to understand media communication in the twenty-first century and to use media effectively and responsibly. Through analyzing the forms and messages of a variety of media works and audience responses to them, and through creating their own media works, students will develop critical thinking skills, aesthetic and ethical judgement, and skills in viewing, representing, listening, speaking, reading and writing.

EMS481-This course extends and deepens the studies begun in EMS3O. It helps students understand how to analyze and create withing all the major media. The course allows students to experiment with forms, genres and languages so they can decide which media forms are appropriate for which audiences and purposes. It invites them to experiment with a variety of roles so they can determine the level and degree of participation they prefer to pursue in their post-secondary media studies.
Prerequisite: English, Grade 11, University Preparation
